My Favourite apps and websites this summer (Includes various tips to get Canva, Microsoft 365 and much more for 🆓)
I try to be as minimalistic as possible when it comes to
applications and websites which I use regularly. By being more minimalistic, I
can save a lot of time and also being able to create better output in my
daily life as a student. Here are some of the websites and apps which I use:
1. OneNote ✍
The first one on the list is OneNote. I find that OneNote is the
best application when it comes to note-taking. It is very simplistic and since
it comes from Microsoft, I am pretty much used to its interface and find it
very easy to work on this app.
Also, apart from its simple interface, I like the dark
background in it. I also use this as my primary text editor app and then I copy-paste the text to Word to create a Word Document for assignments or other
purposes.
Maintaining a notebook in OneNote helps me to keep everything
organized under various sections and subsections. I like that OneNote is
accessible on all my devices and help me create notes smoothly whether I am
using my smartphone or tablet or my laptop.
I use OneNote to maintain the notes of my study, internships,
competitions in which I participate and I also use OneNote for writing my blogs
as well as writing my journal.
2. Canva 🎨
Canva is my go-to website when it comes to creating graphics
whether it is a presentation or any design which I need to create.
Canva is a drag and drop designing app and can be used by
anyone. There are thousands of templates and graphics in the Canva itself which
saves me a lot of time when I have to create a presentation or an assignment at the end moment.
I have a premium Canva Account which I got for free through
my GitHub Account about which I would talk in details, below in this post
3. Amazon Kindle 📖
I have a Kindle reader and one thing I like about Amazon
Kindle is that it is available on all my devices. So, whenever I have to
revisit my highlights or notes I can use the Kindle app on my smartphone to
revise all my highlights and notes. In this manner, I can retain all the
stuff which I read on my Kindle reader.
4. GitHub
If you are a student then you should go to get a GitHub
Student Pack includes a lot of free things for students which in general
is too much costly. Also, you don't have to use a credit card to prevail such
free stuff which again is very helpful as students generally don't have a
credit card
The free stuff 💰 includes
- Free Canva Premium for one year
- Free Domain Names
- Free Trial for various paid courses in various coding and web development sites.
Apart from GitHub, there are various websites that offer you various offers and discounts if you are a student so don't forget to check if a website has student offers or not before paying.

5. Microsoft Suite
As a student, you can get Microsoft 365 for free with your student ID. I won't talk much about Microsoft Suite as these apps are much needed be it Word, Excel or PowerPoint.
In my first year, I had been overconfident about my
Microsoft Office skills but later I realized that what I knew was not even the
tip of the iceberg. But, later on when I did courses on these applications and I
realized how wrong I was and today I find it very useful in my internships and
study.
